Re "Harper: Bully or shrewd political strategist" (Oct 21): Angelo Persichilli has hit the nail right on the head with this one.

Stephane Dion is refusing to vote against the throne speech primarily to save his political hide. If Dion truly believes the Conservative government is that bad for Canada, he should vote the government down and take his chances with the electorate. I do applaud Harper for throwing down the gauntlet, although I admit we don't need an election right now. A lot of Conservative legislation would have been passed if not for Liberal stalling. Maybe things will finally get done on the Hill now.

(Wishful thinking)
